National Rush Summit and Rush Festival

Representatives from the twenty two Rush franchises convened in Lincoln, NE (home of the Nebraska Rush) for two full days of discussion, presentations and planning. Presidents, Technical Directors, Directors of Coaching, Executive Administrators and Vice Presidents were all in attendance as Rush CEO Tim Schulz along with General Manager, Dana Schoenwetter, and Technical Director, Andrew Kummer, presided over informative and intriguing sessions.

Monday’s session also featured two on field instructional lessons for the Technical Directors and coaches. One was run by Tim Schulz and the other by our own President / Technical Director Iain Fraser. Monday also saw representatives from Eurosport present the finished version of the new customized Nike Rush jersey for the competitive boys program. Lots of the information that was discussed and covered will be presented to our coaches, team managers and board members over the upcoming weeks.

In conjunction with the Summit, the 1st Annual Rush Festival is also being run. The Festival is for Rush U13 teams (boys and girls) to enjoy four days of on field team training, functional training, games, classroom sessions and parent education sessions. Over 20 teams from around the country are in Nebraska at this moment enjoying the advantage of being Rush players. Stay tuned as our U13 boys coach, Jamie Kent, will be writing about his observations and his team’s experience in Nebraska.

 CALIFORNIA CUP CHAMPIONS!

The California Rush Nike 93 Girls (U16) won the prestigious
California Cup tournament by overrunning State Cup Finalist
Santa Rosa.  Three unanswered goals in the second half
of play, clinched the Championship game by a 4-1 score.

After Santa Rosa tied the game 1-1 early in the second period,
our Nike 93’s showed why they are a team to watch in any
tournament they compete in. Kasey Curtis led the way by scoring six goals in the five Cal Cup games including a well taken winner in the Championship match.

In their five games the team outscored their opposition 10-1.

Congratulations to coach Chris McDonald
and our girls for their success!
